Over the years, the National Center for Employee Ownership has often reported on Phelps County Bank (PCB), one of the best examples of ownership cultures the know. This month, PCB's long-time president and inspirational leader, Emma Lou Brent, retired from the bank. Emmy, as she is known to everyone, led the bank's transformation from an unremarkable ESOP with a small ownership plan to a 100% ESOP that has set an example for the entire ESOP community.
